Madsen Retreat is a large Mediterranean style home located in the beautiful seaside town of Penguin in NW Tasmania - population about 5000. It is elevated with vista views of the Bass Strait and just a quick 4 minute walk to the shops, post office, cafes and beach. Madsen Retreat is situated on 1000 sq. m of elevated landscaped grounds and every room has a garden view as well as a sea view. It has bbq facilities, and rear sun deck and is pet friendly for dogs with its own outside kennel that can accomodate two small dogs or one large one. Our first floor suite of rooms are all 4 star quality and comfort with fine linens, stylish bedding, interior decor, plenty of storage and shelf space, ipod docks, mini bar, soft bathrobes in each room, iron and ironing board, dining room, sunroom and laundry facilities. We offer secure on site parking. We offer a continental breakfast for $10 pp and full cooked breakfast is offered for an additional $15 per person. Free WiFi throughout the house and smart tvs to allow you to stream online movies. Penguin sits between Ulverstone and Burnie (about 15 minute drive either way) and is just a half hour drive on Bass Highway from Devonport where the Spirit of Tasmania ferry comes in twice a day. We are located in NW Tasmania that has some of the most fertile and beautiful countryside in the world. NW Tasmania has some of the best roads and driving conditions you will ever have the joy of driving on and it offers superb views of country and sea all the way down the coastal route to Burnie and then to Stanley and Port Arthur and Edge of the World where you can look out at the Southern Ocean. The Tarkine Drive is a must if you are staying for more than a day. Our little town has two IGA stores, about 5 cafes and bakeries, a bank, a gallery (just opened), a Pharmacy, two Vets, a Newsagent, a Barber shop, a Service Station and a number of curiosity shops. If you want more choice, the drive up the coast to Ulverstone is one of the most beautiful coastal drives you will find anywhere.
